Teaching Preschool/Pre-K at home opens the opportunity to teach your child in different ways. Board games are fun to incorporate into your homeschooling lessons because your child can learn through playing. As well for us parents, it gives us a moment to bond with our children.
I chose simple and interactive board games. The games consisted of phonics, the alphabet, learning colors, learning about animals, matching pictures, and learning to take turns.

Games for Preschoolers
1. ZINGO
This is one of our favorites! ZINGO is an interactive board game that has helped my children learn new vocabulary. We play until the card is filled, which makes the games last longer.
2. The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Board Game
Fun and interactive board game that gets your child to practice their colors and numbers. The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Board Game is a fun game that my kids like to play because it motivates them to get ALL the acorns.
If you have toddlers, they can join in the fun!
3. Chuckle & Roar – Family Bingo
One of the reasons this is my favorite is because it has 4 in 1 games. The four options of the Chuckle & Roar – Family Bingo are:
- Animal Bingo
- Alphabet Bingo
- Sight Words Bingo
- Traditional Bingo.
We usually play animal bingo and alphabet bingo cards. Alphabet gets them to recognize uppercase and lowercase. As well as associate a picture with the letter. When we play animal bingo, we talk about where the animals live and what sound they make.
I plan to use the sight words bingo and traditional bingo next year for kindergarten homeschool.
4. I Spy Dig in Game
A hands-on board game that gets your child engaged looking for items. I Spy Dig in Game does come with a small timer, but we don’t use it. We each get a card with pictures of the items we need to find. Then, we all start searching for the items on our card to match it.
I love it because it helps my kids with color and picture recognition.
5. I Spy Bingo
There may be a lot going on in this board game with all the pictures on the card. I keep it easy and fun by playing I Spy Bingo as a phonics game. The letters are big and clear. When I call out the letter, we practice sounding it out.
We also play this game by filling up the entire card.
6. Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes
One of my kids’ favorites! This game has four different options depending on what space you land. The four options you have are:
- A charades card where the person that gets the card acts it out. Then, the rest of the players must guess what they are acting out.
- If you land on Emma the Pug, you must name something that begins with a letter, for example, A for Alligator.
- Land on the music note then you must sing a song.
- If you land on the apple, you must name something yummy!
I recommend Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes for family game nights with little kids.
