- MathLink Cubes are hands down our most-used manipulative. They are incredibly versatile, making them perfect for counting, building, addition, subtraction, and unit measuring.
- Bear Counters
- These little guys are perfect for young learners working on colors, counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Wooden Pattern Blocks
- I remember using these in school, and now my kids love them just as much! We love building fun pattern pictures with them, and I also grab pattern cards from TeachersPayTeachers so my kids can work on them independently.
- Magnetic Base Ten
- These have been wonderful for helping my child understand ones and tens, and they made adding numbers from the 20s to the 40s so much easier to grasp alongside their curriculum.
- Play Money
- There is nothing quite like having realistic pretend money to make learning money sense fun and hands-on! My kids love handling the coins and bills, and it makes practicing skills like counting money, making change, and recognizing coin values feel like play rather than a lesson. And as an added bonus, my kids love using them for pretend play too!
Extra Math Manipulatives

- Bucket Balance
- A bucket balance has been a great tool for introducing more and less, as well as heavy and light! We love comparing simple everyday items like an apple and a strawberry, or just grabbing things from around the house to see which one tips the scale.
- Time Activity Set
- A hands-on clock is wonderful for targeted lessons, but we do not use it every single day. My kids tend to practice telling time naturally, just by checking the clocks around the kitchen or house.
- Number Chart
- We have a number chart that we pull out for certain lessons, but I do not require my kids to use it every single day, only when we need it. That said, since my children are visual learners, having those numbers laid out in front of them can be really helpful!
- Number Play-Doh Stamps
- Number stamps have been such a fun tool, especially in the younger years! I love that they offer a different way to learn beyond just flashcards. They bring that hands-on element that makes learning feel more like play.
- Math Play-Doh Mats

They work great for morning work or alongside your curriculum, and my kids absolutely love pairing them with Play-Doh.
